Ideal Setup
Event: Colorado Adventure Motorcycle 1000 (CAM1K)
Start and Finish: Colorado Springs, Colorado
Dates: August 18-23, 2013

Fundraising: This event will help support groups preserving our sport in SW Colorado
Meals & Accommodations: Tent Camping fees are included, but meals are your own responsibility. Most will tent camp each evening (at an established campground with bathrooms and showers), but 3-4 evenings, a motel or cabin will be an option on your own dime. At least two nights, the camping will be remote with no amenities and everyone will be required to sleep under the stars. Some days, a Diner or Cafe will be available for breakfast and dinner. Each rider will pack their lunch and eat on the trail.

Bike: Ideally a 400-650cc Street Legal Enduro with Light Luggage...(Wolfman bags are perfect).

Gear: Each Rider and Bike will be required to carry the gear to spend the night in the woods at 11,000 feet elevation (which happened twice in 2012 over 7 days). The Basic Gear must include a sleeping bag, tarp/tent, two days of food and water and your clothing. (There will not be a support truck hauling gear.) It is important to be prepared to ride when wet and cold. (KLIM Gortex clothing is an example of the type of riding gear you should bring...breathable and waterproof.)

Ride Groups: There are two things we learned from the 2012 CAM. #1. Large ride groups are a HUGE negative (hard to manage, too much dust, etc.) #2. The groups can't be too small, so to there is ample support and team work when navigating the high passes and rough terrain. Therefore, the overall group will be limited to 30 riders, in 6 teams of 5 riders.  Each team will have a leader that is familiar with the route, has a GPS and a SPOT. (It is highly recommended that every rider have a Spot and GPS.)  Each day the various teams will head out in a staggered fashion.  Three to four predetermined stops each day will bring everyone back together.  Of course, everyone will camp together in the same location each night.

Limitations: This Ride will be limited to the first 24 accepted applicants. (6 Rider/Leader Guides will also be a part of the ride for a total of 30.)  Invitations/Applications will be sent out in January. Receiving the first slots will be the 2012 CAM Riders. Remaining slots will be filled on a first come, first served basis.as accepted. This is an extreme adventure ride and it is possible that a lack of riding skills or the wrong bike could eliminate a candidate.

Fund Raising: Upwards of 80% of each riders RMAR Membership fees will go directly to an organization and/or local trail clubs that either maintain trails in Colorado or fight legally to keep our access and trails open.

Schwag: Yep, a very nice riding jersey, stickers and Video/Pictures of the ride are included.
