Rocky Mountain Adventure Riders (RMAR) is a Colorado-based non-profit American Motorcycle Association Group.

Our mission is to:
1. Positively Impact and Influence the lives of those that ride with us, respecting each other and supporting one another.
2. Promote Dual-Sport/Adventure Motorcycle Events in the Rocky Mountain Region with a focus on responsible and respectable behavior and riding on our public lands and in the local communities, adhering to all AMA policies and requirements.
3. Support fund-raisers for state and/or local trail riding clubs or Associations/Coalitions/Alliances that champion our sport and/or fight legislatively/politically for public land access for motorcycling.

RMAR accomplishes this mission by organizing and running off events throughout the Rocky Mountain region that provide outstanding riding opportunities and fundraiser for local advocacy and trail riding clubs.

Matt McCabe - President

Matt has been riding since 1979, when he started riding dirt bikes and three-wheelers off-road in eastern Utah and northwest Colorado.  When he turned 18, he got his first street bike and has had been riding ever since.  After turning to the street in 1982 and joining the military in 1987, he has been riding various street bikes.  While in the Air Force for nearly 22 years, he was stationed in all corners of the country, as well as in Germany, and found no real off-pavement riding opportunities like we currently have in the western US.   But Matt really loves the back-country and as the smaller and rougher roads looked more and more attractive, he has added smaller and smaller bikes to the stable to get to those more challenging locations.

Mark Odette - Director of Promotions

Mark started riding dirt bikes in 1984 as a child on a Honda CR60 which he is proud to still own today. In 1999 while at University he bought his first street motorcycle being a Kawasaki Ninja EX250. In 2001 Mark then bought a Yamaha FZ1 in which he put about 48,000 miles on it before deciding to take up Dual Sport riding. In 2009 he sold the FZ1 and bought a 2001 Honda XR650R that had been plated for street use. He has around 40,000+ miles on the XR650R which are 99% dirt miles.

In 2010 Mark met John Lane in helping with the first RMAR Rendezvous that was held in South Fork, CO. Since then he has enjoyed the passion in spreading the word of awareness and promoting the sport of Dual Sport riding. He is a member of AMA, COHVCO, and TPA.

Mark is married to a wonderful wife and has recently had his first child in 2012.

Mark Ferguson - Director of Marketing

Mark started riding at the age of 13 on a Kawasaki KE-100 before graduating to a 550 LTD at age 15 (why his parents let him do this we'll never know).  Heading off to college Mark put riding aside for 25 years while he and his wife got through school and then started their careers and family.   After mountain biking for many years Mark stumbled across Long Way Round and the adventure motorcycling bug was firmly planted.  When not on his KTM 530 exploring a loose rocky trail somewhere you can find Mark behind a computer working on another software start-up (he's done at least eight now) or planning his next bike modification/adventure ride somewhere in the mountains of Colorado.

Dusty Wessel

Picture
Dusty Wessels rode his first motorcycle when he was 5.  He had dirt bikes as a kid but put riding aside for most of his 20's to finish school and start a career.  Now, adventure bikes and the adventure lifestyle are my passion.  Raised in Colorado, I have spent my life experiencing its amazing backcountry in all the elements.  I grew up hiking, fly fishing, skiing, backpacking, riding motorcycles, and basically just taking in everything Colorado has to offer.  Of all the hobbies I’ve had over the years, adventure motorcycle riding gives me freedom, fresh air, camaraderie, a sense of self-reliance, and excitement that all the other hobbies don’t.  People travel from around the world to experience this part of the country, and I’m lucky enough to live here.  I want to help you experience it by motorcycle.
